Artist's Comments
This is Madeline. She is a Secretary bird from The Hawk Conservancy Trust.
Secretary birds are incredible. They are designed for taking on snakes. They kick the snake out of a bush, and proceed to stamp on its head with painstaking accuracy and power (as shown here). The sound is very loud!
They are also very capable of performing a Jumping Front kick, (as seen by a shot in my scaps that was good enough to make my main gallery), so they can take out a rearing cobra for example.
Fascinating birds.

When I was at the Hawk Conservancy some years ago, I didn't have a camera. Which really pisses me off - especially when I see such great captures. I'm a member there so I can go anytime I like hehe. Its worth the trip if the weather is nice.

One of my favorite birds, and such a lovely shot! Capturing a moving bird like this is tough, and the shot is rather clear!
