More of a reference shot than anything else.

I was laying in some mud at Beaulieu lake in teh new forest, shooting a pair of very rare birds - some black winged stilts - when this Oyster catcher flew down a few meters in front of my and started digging for food. I got acouple of shots off before it flew away again. This was the best.

enjoy

Great shot. You really need to set the correct time on your camera.....

Light waits for no man. You're either out there, or you miss it. Forever.
Great shot, lovely detail. How did you get it so sharp!? My nature shots dont come out sharp enough!! :)
Practice and expensive glass. I was shooting with a Sigma 120-300mm f2.8 EX DG HSM and a 1.4ex teleconvertor. Its a pro spec lens but its nothing compared to the nikon version!

I was also very close. Only about 3 shots of the bird came out this sharp as it was constantly moving and camera shake ruined the others (no VR on the sigma lol)

Ah so you get what you pay for!! I've just gor a teleconverter so i'll have a play around at weekend if its not raining! :)
Don't rely too heavily on them - They really drag down the quality of your shots - especially 2x ones. I have a dedicated sigma 1.4 and 2x for my 300mm 2.8 and the quality of the 2x is terribly soft! The 1.4 can be pin sharp but only arount 20% of the time.
