Seeing as I havn't been able to get out with the camera for nearly 10 days, i've decided to upload the other dolphins shot from Lepe beach the other morning.

This is the correctly exposed version, but the sky isn't as nice or dramatic as the other shot. The composition is cleaner however as I made sure that the isle of wight was not protruding from the right hand side of the frame in this version.

I don't like this as much as the other one either but not for the reasons you give:
With a heavy crop it would be a winner...
I just feel that the extreme left and most of the bottom and a strip at the top are pointless to the composition - just clutter and empty space. Crop in and you really have something imo.

I think you might be right regarding the bottom and just a slither off the top. Can't say I agree with the left of the image however as it would be far too close to the structure and have no breathing room.

Cheers tho :)

You may be right it's just that rock on the right is a little awkward.

All of your work is just amazing. It´s like taking great pictures is easy for you, everytime i get online you have another beautiful shot uploaded. Ive only had a filter like you used for this picture for a short while and i have to say its pretty hard to use (at least for me it is). my first result i got from it is in my gallery btw. by far not as good as yours but i hope i will get close one day ;)

you bought a 10 stop? yeah it is hard work. You need to meter the scene without the filter on first and then double the shutter speed 10 times, so if you get 1 second unfiltered, it turns into 16 minutes filtered!
