Artist's Comments
This is Madeline. She is a Secretary bird from The Hawk Conservation Trust.
Secretary birds are incredible. They are designed for taking on snakes. They kick the snake out of a bush, and proceed to stamp on its head with painstaking accuracy and power. The sound is very loud!
They are also very capable of performing a Jumping Front kick, (as desmonstrated in this shot), so they can take out a rearing cobra for example.
Fascinating birds.
