Clevalls tower in the far distance above kimmeridge bay. Bit of a different style of shot for me. I loved the cloud going round the hill in the distance and was really taken in by the cracks in these rocks in the foreground.
I'll shoot this one evening when the light is warmer - I missed it by about 10 minutes this evening but I like this shot anyway enjoy/
I like this, in fact, a lot, that warm color is just really nice, the viewer gets a great sense of relaxation and tranquility here when viewing it, and that in my opinion, is always a good thing, it is a nice when you have a photo that really relates a certain mood and atmosphere to the viewer and this certainly does that.
Excellent clarity and exposure, nothing over done and teh softness of the sky really is a nice contrast with the heavy textured ground.
This is the kind of shot I can see hanging on the wall, have you thought of a B&W for this at all? I bet it would REALLY pop!
I can't see enough of the image at this size to get a good feel for it but it is interesting enough to leave me wondering: What's the brown haze in the background; smoke? dust? What're those white blobs in the back; buildings? rocks? trucks? What's that odd trio of rocks in the puddle?
I love the colours here, they really show off the geology of the bay and contrast superbly with the sky. Although the composition works I wonder if a slightly higher view point would have worked better and seperated the foreground from thsea and background a little better. 2 comments here have mentioned BW and I too would like to see this in BW (although I am not convinced it would work as well) what puzzles me is your attitude of "if I didn't intend for it at the time, I won't do it" I have seen this type of comment from you many times before and I can't understand it myself. Some of the best photographs are realised later in the studio (rather than at the time of shooting) and this is when all fine tuning is done - cropping, contrast curves, black and white, whatever. It seems like you are limiting yourself by only doing what you considered at the time??
Its just my way mate. I'm not a big fan of B+W at the best of times and I see it as a way to salvage a badly lit shot in many instances (but not all the time). Its not really limiting myself its just I capture a scene with a specific intent and 'as it was'. I think theres way too much digital manipulation going on in photography now and it really shows in the high end competitions, especially national bloody geographic. there has to be some boundaries
This is amazing stuff. How on earth did you manage to get it all that sharp and detailed right the way through the image. and the colors are just out of the world. xx
